Job Overview
- We are seeking an energetic, visionary, and highly organizedFitness Operations Managerto lead our premier, on-premise fitness center and restorative suite located in midtown Manhattan, New York.
This role requires a dynamic leader who is passionate about physical health, understands the latest trends in fitness and recovery technology, and possesses the creativity to market programs that generate excitement. You will manage all daily operations, lead a large, diverse team, drive engagement through innovative programming, and ensure a world-class experience for all members.
What you will do
- Strategic Leadership & Operational Management
Directly manage daily operations of the fitness center and specialized restorative suite (e.g., saunas, massage, recovery tools). Lead, mentor, and schedule a team of personal trainers, group fitness instructors, and facility attendants. Ensure the facility operates at maximum cleanliness, safety, and functional capacity. Manage operational budget, inventory control, and vendor relationships for equipment repairs.
- Programming, Innovation & Industry Trends
Stay ahead of industry trends (wearable tech, functional training, mobility/recovery) and implement them within the facility. Develop, launch, and curate creative, high-energy fitness and restorative programs that cater to diverse member needs. Oversee scheduling of personal training sessions, group classes, and workshops.
- Marketing, Member Engagement & Excitement
Develop marketing strategies to promote programs and increase participation rates. Generate excitement within the community through events, workshops, and challenges. Use internal marketing materials and email campaigns to promote the facility’s offerings. Act as the brand ambassador to drive member retention and satisfaction.
- Team Development & Leadership
Recruit, onboard, train, and provide ongoing performance management to staff. Foster a culture of excellence, high-level customer service, and passion for wellness. Conduct regular team meetings to align on goals and share best practices.
What we are looking for
Education:Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health & Nutrition, or a closely related field from an accredited university. Experience:3–5+ years of experience in fitness management, preferably overseeing both a fitness center and wellness/restorative components. Leadership:Demonstrated experience leading large teams (10+ staff). Technical Knowledge:Proficiency with fitness and restorative technology/equipment. Strong capability with booking/management software Skills:
Creative, quick-thinking, and adaptable. Passionate about physical fitness and holistic wellness. Strong marketing and promotional acumen. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Certifications:Nationally recognized Personal Training Certification (NASM, ACSM, NSCA, etc.) and CPR/AED/First Aid.

For residents of California, Colorado, New York City, and Washington only:The annual salary for this position ranges from $100,000 - $115,000. Pay is based on several factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, certifications, geographic differentials, and other business and organizational needs. In addition to the hourly rate, Plus One offers a comprehensive benefits package (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements), which includes health insurance, life and disability benefits, 401(k) plan, and paid time off.
